Review ~ The Chia Cookbook by Janie Hoffman

TheChiaCookbook

The Chia Cookbook has been a blessing. I been using Chia Seeds on my smoothies for the better part of this year and now with the Chia Cookbook I am able to incorporate this wonderful superfood into other dishes. I use Chia Seeds mainly for its slimming properties and I must say it has work wonderfully for me.

“Chia is a powerful little seed with incredible health benefits. In this mouthwatering recipe collection, Mamma Chia founder Janie Hoffman invites you into her kitchen to learn the secrets of incorporating this ancient superfood into modern meals from breakfast to dinner and happy hour to dessert.”
“As you read through the recipes in this book, you’ll see that it’s possible to incorporate chia into everything, and I mean everything – breakfast foods, soups, salads, cocktails, main dished desserts. The seeds also complement all epicurean traditions”.

When I pick a cookbook, I like to see photos and this book has lots. It is a major factor to decide if the recipes are worth my time. The recipes could turn out to be the best ever, but if it doesn’t have a photo for me to look how my dish would or in my case could look, I won’t even bother. The Chia Cookbook not only has stunning pictures, but it also gives you a brief history on Chia, how to cook with Chia and it also gives you its nutritional properties. One thing that was a surprise was finding out that there are varieties of Chia Seeds – Black and White- who knew?

As a baker finding substitution to make healthy baking goods is a plus and finding out that Chia can replace my All-Purpose flour and can be used as an egg substitutes it’s wonderful. I will be incorporating some of these practices in my next baking adventure.

The book is well written and the sections are well defined for easy browsing. The Chia Book has six chapters that will make it easy to peruse the recipes and decided what you would like to make. Most of the recipes are quick and easy. Most of the recipes don’t required that many ingredients and most seem easy to find.

The versatility of the Chia Seed, bring texture and nutritional benefits to all the recipes presented on this book, that not given them try would be unwise. I would have never imagined that something so small could have so many benefits.

I received this book from Blogging for Books for this review.
